I really like the ChouAmi fermenter. I have been making my own sauerkraut for a couple of years now, but just recently bought the ChouAmi. I had previously been using weights in the top of the jar and the method where you leave the lid just slightly loose to allow release of pressure. The sauerkraut that I made in the ChouAmi tasted better to me. So ended up buying two more on the holiday special. Will be using them for many years to come.
We're very proud of our spring-loaded weight solution, and we're glad you agree Tracy! Thanks for adding more ChouAmi units to your kitchen.
I'm always on the hunt for products that are plastic free. This is an amazing project. The seal on the Fermenter is silicone & it comes off for cleaning. If you need to replace it, it's very easy to do. The quality of all the parts for the Fermenter top notch.
I admire you offer stainless stain replacement for the glass jars. Simple but effective to get plastic from getting in contact with your food. I'll be getting some soon.
I really prefer the wide mouth Le Parfait Familia Wiss Terrine. Much easier to get ingredients in versus the traditional wide mouth mason jars.
Thank you Tosh for your review! We're so glad you're also a plastic-free supporter and lover of the Le Parfait jars. Good luck on your fermenting endeavors!
I'm a newbie, who thought I hated sauerkraut. After reading about the huge benefits of fermented foods, I decided to try to make my own. On my second batch and am just loving it! Going to buy another, with some additional size jars for storing.
Glad to hear you've been converted to a kraut lover Sabrina! And thank you for sharing this photo. That's a good looking kraut!
The bits and parts are high quality, the instructions are short and easily followed, and the whole thing worked like a charm exactly as described. So much easier than fermenting the way I was doing it, and I had fermented cabbage/carrots/cauliflower in no time. Very glad of the purchase. Will likely buy another.
I like the ChouAmi kit, no plastic involved, but sturdy metal and interchangeble glass jars. Also perfect size.
